Teaching

In Spring 2021 (Virtual) and Winter 2022 (in person), I was an instructor of MGMT 300 (Organizational Behavior and Leadership), the University of Washington Foster School of Business' core course for BBA students. Both times I was the sole instructor of the course. This course had modules on motivation, teams, leadership, ethics, organizational culture, and organization design. For this course, I led students on an innovative team project on creating short videos based on providing research-based solutions for real world organizational problems.

In Summer 2020 and 2021, I was also the independent instructor for the team project module of the University of Washington Foster School of Business core course for Technology Management MBA (TMMBA) on Leading Organizational Change. In this module, I was solely responsible for helping MBA teams through all stages of their team project based on generating change initiatives in their organizations.

In their evaluations, my students have described my class as "my favorite course of the quarter", "by far one of the most fun classes I have had at Foster" and "Ussama was definitely the best professor I have ever had". Students also described the class environment as inclusive and safe: "He was very inclusive to everyone in the class, and was open to many different viewpoints in his lectures and made sure everyone felt welcome during in person lectures". I was recognized as a "Star Teacher" by the Management and Organizations Department at the Foster School of Business for my teaching.
